Solar park Branderwal aims for maximum return and chooses Eddy Grid

On the edge of Kootwijkerbroek, on the former site of Bosch Beton, stands Solar Park Branderwal: a smartly designed 28 MWp solar park with more than 42,000 panels. The site has been transformed into a sustainable energy source that supplies electricity to approximately 7,000 households each year. In addition to power generation, there is space for agriculture: under the elevated panels, there is room for growing blueberries and grazing sheep. In this way, the park contributes to biodiversity and multifunctional land use.

The energy market is volatile and difficult to predict. Prices and regulations are constantly changing. On top of that, grid congestion is making the playing field increasingly complex. For solar parks, that means standing still equals missing out financially. That’s why Branderwal chose Eddy Grid’s smart energy management.

Since January, Eddy Grid has handled the daily monitoring and control of the solar park. The selected bidding strategy is continuously analyzed to ensure it remains the most profitable, and adjustments are made quickly as the market shifts. This ensures that Branderwal not only generates sustainable energy but also maximizes its financial return—precisely by scaling down at less favorable times. “Eddy Grid offers the right solution to earn as much as possible from our park with their driven and data-focused approach, while also helping to balance the grid,” says owner Brand-Jan van den Bosch. “Their clear communication and easy accessibility make them a pleasant, reliable partner to work with.”

Curtailment is strategically used as a tool to boost revenue: better to deliver nothing than to sell at a loss. Renno Welberg, CCO of Eddy Grid, also emphasizes the importance of proactive management: “We understand how important it is for solar park owners to respond quickly to market changes. By continuously monitoring and actively adjusting, we ensure that parks like Branderwal perform at their best—without the owner having to worry about it.”
